EEASA 30th ANNUAL CONFERENCE & WORKSHOP

TUESDAY 11th - FRIDAY 14th SEPTEMBER 2012

The Environmental Education Association of Southern Africa (EEASA) is pleased to announce that its 30th Annual Conference and Workshop will be held in South Africa from 11 – 14 September 2012, hosted by Rhodes University.

The EEASA 2012 Conference Theme is: “Environmental Learning, Agency and Social Change”.  Our aim is to reflect critically on environmental education’s contribution to local, regional and global challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, land degradation and the decline of ecosystems and species.  Critical questions to address during the conference include:

  • To what extent do our current environmental education and training processes develop people’s/ societies’ potential to be agents of change? What are the associated challenges?
  • What educational orientations, methods and materials can support change-oriented learning?
  • What is the role of research in developing a dynamic field of EE?
  • Where should we, as environmental educators, focus our efforts in the next 10 – 20 years?
